I'm joining The Odyssey Read-along! I'm a little nervous, but I'm going to do it. It's being hosted by Trish at Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity. I remember reading parts of it in ninth grade, but it has been quite a while since then! I'm really looking forward to this, and I love the idea of the read-along so that I have that extra push to keep with it.
edited: Oops! I must have hit publish twice. There are two identical posts but there are comments on both so I feel bad deleting one. Forgive me for the error but I'm going to leave them both up.
Good luck to you! The Odyssey is one of my favorites and it really depends on the translation you get. I highly recommend the Fagles translation. He translated it in the way it was meant to sound, so its very lyrical. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I've found that readalongs are a great way to tackle long and/or difficult and/or intimidating books.
ReplyDeleteAllie--Thanks! I just ordered the Fagles translation and being shipped tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteJenners--Thanks! This is my first readalong so I'm excited to join. It should be fun and it will keep me from wimping out.
Well I'm glad that Jenners didn't throw me under the bus like she did at Jill's. :P Poor Jenners had to endure Brothers Karamazov with me (even though I haven't finished yet...).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're joining Kristi! I think we're all a little nervous but I just keep listening to those who say it's fantastic. ;)
Trish--Sorry about your experience with the Brothers Karamozov. It sounds a bit horrific. I'm excited to join. Thanks for hosting it.
