Austen in August Giveaway

Updated: August 20, 2012 GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Congratulations to winner, Melissa of Avid Reader's Musings

Adam of Roof Beam Reader is hosting Austen in August. As Jane Austen is a favorite author, I couldn't possibly pass up participating. Check out the master post to find a list of links to reviews. I've read all of her completed novels, but I'm hoping to re-read at least Persuasion and possibly Northanger Abbey this month.

To spread the Austen love, I'm hosting an international giveaway today for participants of Austen in August. I will select one winner who may select one of the following books as their prize. I'll be giving away the Vintage Classics edition of the six completed novels (unless you have a strong preference to another edition),  and the last option is a paperback including her three unfinished works (one edition also includes Northanger Abbey).

It will be shipped via Book Depository so you may enter if they ship to your address. I reserve the right to ship from another bookseller depending on the location of the winner. To enter, please leave a comment including the items below. For this particular giveaway you must be a registered participant of Austen in August prior to August 1st to qualify.
  1. Tell me your favorite Austen book.
  2. Tell me the book you would select were you to win.
  3. Your email address (to contact you should you win).
The giveaway begins today and will close midnight August 19. I'll randomly select a winner the following day and will notify the winner by email. The winner will have 72 hours to respond or I will select someone else. Happy reading!

  1. I'm sure I'll be one of many who say that P&P is their favorite. I re-read it at least once a year. Not terribly original, I know, but it is an excellent novel :)

If I won, I would select Mansfield Park. It's the only novel I haven't read and if I had an edition with such a cute cover, maybe I'd be more inclined to read it.

    thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  2. Good luck to all the entrants!

My favorite is Northanger Abbey, but there are three I haven't read yet: Mansfield Park (reading now), Emma, and Persuasion. I hear good things about all three, so who knows? I loved Pride & Prejudice and really enjoyed Sense & Sensibility, too.

  9. I'm almost done with P&P and I'm thinking that it will end up being my favorite Austen novel. Although, even with its quiet demeanor, I still love Persuasion very much.

I'd like to put in for Mansfield Park.

  10. Pride and Prejudice has been my favorite for several years, but Persuasion is starting to creep up there. It's really hard to choose. I might have to read P&P again before deciding that, haha.

I am entering to win a copy of Persuasion. Thanks much for the giveaway!

  11. My favorite is Emma. And I'd choose Sense and Sensibility, as it's one of a few Austen novels that I've yet left to read.

  12. P&P(It turns 200 next Jan.!), followed very closely by S&S, and Persuasion. I like Emma and NA alot too. MP brings up the rear but enjoyed a reread a couple of years ago. I dislike Lady Susan. No need to send a prize! Enjoy!

  13. Truth be told, I haven't read any Austen books yet. Yes, I know. I'm that pitiful. :( But if ever I will be randomly chosen as the winner, I would like to have Persuasion. I have read For Darkness Shows the Stars, which is based from the book, and I really love it. So I would also (probably) love Persuasion as well.

  14. Love Persuasion! It's tops followed by Northanger Abbey and P&P. I would love to own the Sanditon, Watsons & Lady Susan book...it's the only one I don't have. phryne1969 AT gmail DOT com.

  15. I love ALL of Jane Austen's books, but if I have to pick a favorite I'd say Sense and Sensibility. With that said, Anne Elliot is my favorite character and I'm now reading Persuasion for 'Austen in August'.
So if I'm lucky enough to win then I would choose... Persuasion.

    1. Thanks! I've been away for a couple weeks on holiday. My kids are back in school so I'm going to try to get back into blogging more regularly. Hopefully I'll make the rounds on The Stand posts soon since I finished it last week.
